Everything You Need to Know About Eyebrow Lamination

All around the world, thousands of men and women have embarked on a quest to find the perfect eyebrow treatment. Luckily for them, and for us brow techs, there are a huge number of different treatments to choose from. From threading to semi-permanent tattoo techniques, achieving the perfect brows has never been easier.

In recent years, eyebrow lamination has become one of the most popular techniques for those looking to re-create the fluffy brow sported by celebrities such as Gigi Hadid and Dua Lipa.

Brow lamination is one of the most effective ways of creating fuller-looking brows without having to undergo tattoo-based treatments such as microblading and micropigmentation. It is a technique that promises feathery, super-slick and runway ready eyebrows all day long.

What is Brow Lamination?

Put simply, eyebrow lamination is like a perm for your eyebrow. Lamination restructures your brow hairs so that they all face the same direction to create a fresh, ‘just-brushed’ effect. The treatment straightens and conditions hairs to produce full, slicked-up brows with a high-shine finish.

Who Can Get Eyebrow Lamination?

Brow lamination is great for those with especially unruly brows as it helps to set individual hairs in the same direction.

It is also great for those who suffer with any gaps in their eyebrows. Brow lamination stylists can manipulate hairs to cover sparse areas and create a fuller, more symmetrical appearance.

What Will My Brows Look Like If I Get Them Laminated?

Below we’ve showcased some of our favourite lamination looks.

Pop sensation, Dua Lipa, has brows for days. Every eyebrow hair has been brushed up to face the same direction, creating a more uniform and stylish look.

Our favourite, Rosie Huntinghon Whitley, has a perfectly plucked pair of brows. Like Dua, her brows are brushed upwards and have beem manicured to look slick and sophisticated.

How Does Brow Lamination Work?

Brow lamination is a two-step procedure. Listed below are the basic steps that your stylist will undertake during the lamination process:

Step One: Firstly, a special cream is applied to the area to break down the hair’s bonds. This allows your stylist to manipulate the hairs into your chosen style and shape.

Step Two: Once your brows have been styled into a new position, your stylist will then apply a different cream. This cream is designed to set the eyebrow hairs and hold them in place for a prolonged period.

What Should I Expect During a Brow Lamination Treatment?

Every technician will perform a brow lamination procedure in their own specific way. However, there are a few general rules most stylists will follow.

  • Consultation:

Before anything else, your practitioner will initiate the consultation process. This will give you the opportunity to discuss what you would like to change about your eyebrows and what sort of shape and/or style you are hoping to achieve.

The consultation will also give you the opportunity to ask your technician any other questions you may have regarding the procedure.

  • Relaxing the Hair:

Following your consultation, your practitioner will then apply a special cream to the eyebrow area. This is used to break down the structure of your eyebrow hairs and allow your stylist to manipulate them into a new position.

  • Setting the Hair into Shape:

Your technician will then style your eyebrows into your desired shape. Afterwards, they will apply a new cream to set your eyebrows into position.

  • Tinting:

Most stylists will then tint your brows to add extra definition. Your technician can create a bespoke pigment colour to suit your exact taste, making sure your laminated brows look natural and effortless.

  • Refine the Shape:

Once your brows have been set into a new position and laminated into place, your stylist will then wax, tweeze, or thread the eyebrow area to ensure there isn’t a hair out of place!

What Are the Benefits of Brow Lamination?

The main benefit of undergoing a brow lamination procedure is that you will be able to rock gorgeously groomed brows from the minute you wake up until the moment you go to sleep. However, a lamination treatment has so many more benefits, making it one of the best treatments available today.

A lamination procedure can change the direction in which your eyebrows naturally grow. This means that, after a few treatments, your eyebrows will have a naturally higher arch.

Another fabulous benefit of eyebrow lamination is that it can be tailored to suit your individual needs. If you have thin eyebrows that lack volume and shape, eyebrow lamination can be used to create thick, feathery brows. However, if you feel like you have too much hair that you find hard to tame, eyebrow lamination can add definition and shape.

Eyebrow lamination is also a non-invasive procedure. This means that it does not inflict a significant amount of pain and does not need time to heal. It is a process that does not involve needles and, therefore, is not as permanent or as intense as treatments such as microblading or micropigmentation.

What are the Risks of Eyebrow Lamination?

If you do the correct research and choose a well-trained stylist who has previously created outstanding results, then undergoing a brow lamination treatment is virtually risk free!

Just make sure that your practitioner does not use a solution that is too chemically strong as, like hair dye, this can result in the breakage and/or damage of hair follicles.

How Can I Look After My Laminated Eyebrows?

One of the best things about laminated brows is that they require little to no maintenance. Giving them a quick brush will be enough to keep them looking fabulous for the entire day. However, we have a few tips that you should follow to make your brows look better for longer.

  • Try to keep your eyebrows dry for at least twenty-four hours following the initial procedure. This will make sure that your brows perfectly retain the shape designed for you by your practitioner.
  • Condition and nourish your brows daily with hair oil and moisturising cream. If you focus on the health of your hair, your eyebrows will retain their fresh look for longer.

How Much Does a Brow Lamination Treatment Cost?

Like anything, prices for brow lamination procedures vary from salon to salon and can cost anything between £45 to £120. Factors such as who performs the treatment and whether you want any extras (such as waxing, tinting or threading) can affect how much you might pay for a lamination treatment.

Can You Do Brow Lamination at Home?

You would have to be a beauty pro to achieve salon-quality brow lamination results at home. However, there are a few beauty hacks you can try to ‘get the look’ of laminated brows.

Tip No.1 – Nourish your brows with brow serums or oil. This will help strengthen the hairs and encourage growth.

Tip No.2 - Use a spoolie to brush your hairs in the desired direction. This will tame and shape your brows in seconds and will give you a chance to catch any unwanted hairs that you may have missed earlier.

Tip No.3 - Use a brow gel to fix your newly groomed eyebrows into place. This will give your brows that extra shine (usually achieved by brow lamination), making your eyebrows look super-slick and selfie-ready.

So, there you have it: absolutely everything you need to know about eyebrow lamination.

Eyebrow lamination is the perfect treatment for so many brow-lovers and, here at Cosmedic Supplies, we think you should give it a try!
