⚡️Why do you use Cosmedic Supplies products?

I honestly LOVE Cosmedic Supplies and the products they stock. I use both the Lite Pad and the Pro Pad every day; not only do they look incredibly professional, but they are also super easy to operate.

I adore the Pro Pad, in particular, as it features a variety of settings that allow me to create bespoke brow styles for each individual client.

I also continue to buy from Cosmedic Supplies as I regard them as an extremely friendly, loyal and supportive company. Whenever I have a question about a product or an order, I know that I can get in contact with Cosmedic Supplies and receive a satisfactory response straight away.

⚡️Machine used and favourite needle?

My absolute favourite machine is the Pro Pad. And I use the 0.4 1liner needle the most. I love the fact that the Pro Pad has a variety of different settings which I can use to perfect the outline, shading, ombre effect, fade and hair strokes.

That said, I do love the Lite Pad; I have even bought it home with me so I can practice my technique during COVID19 quarantine! I find it produces a super light pixel finish so I can use this machine on clients that desire a natural, dusty finish to their brows.

⚡️Best piece of advice that you wish you knew when you first started?

Less is more! Knowing what I know now about the skin’s healing process, I would advise new starters to always begin with a lighter brow pigment. If the client wants to go darker and more defined, this can always be achieved during the re-touch.

I would also tell anybody thinking about going into the SPMU industry to thoroughly examine the skin type of each individual client before starting the process and to avoid correcting old SPMU!

⚡️What age did you enter the PMU industry?

I entered the PMU industry at the age of 23.

⚡️Why did you choose the name FSOB for your business?

I was launching my business at the same time the book Fifty Shades of Grey came out. It was 2012 and everybody was raving about it! I remember, one night, just racking my brains trying to think of a name for my business. Then it suddenly came to me! I had to say it over and over again in my head without laughing, but I wanted to stand out from the crowd and have a name that people would remember! I normally go by FSOB or @fsobx as my brand has evolved over the years.

⚡️Favourite procedure you like to carry out?

I also offer a treatment called the BBE (Bold Brow Enhancement) which is my own version of HD Brows. I have a lot of regular customers who book in for BBE and I can confidently say that 95% of them have chosen to get Ombre Brows after a few sessions. Ombre Brows are like long-lasting BBE and that is why my clients love them so much! It eliminates hours of drawing on and filling in their own eyebrows and saves them a lot of money that they would normally spend on eyebrow products and treatments.

One of my other favourite procedures to perform is brow lamination on top of freshly healed Ombre Brows.

⚡️How long did it take to grow your business?

I started my own business at the age of 18. First, I was fully mobile in the Midlands and then I moved into a studio in Chesterfield. I have owned FSOB for approximately nine years now and could not be prouder of what I have achieved and created!

⚡️What qualifications do you have?

I am fully trained in pretty much every aspect of the beauty industry! Listed below are my qualifications:

  • Ombre Brows
  • Microblading
  • Brow Lamination
  • Brow shaping and tinting
  • Lash lifts
  • Eyelash extensions
  • Body treatments and massage
  • Facials
  • Spray tanning
  • Hopi ear candling
  • Bio sculpture gel nails
  • Manicures
  • Pedicures
  • Makeup
  • Body waxing
  • Hair styling

⚡️Why did you choose the beauty industry, especially SPMU?

Art was always my favourite subject at school, and I am an extremely creative person. During my teenage years, I completely fell in love with experimenting with makeup, hair styles and beauty products.

Instead of pursuing an academic career, therefore, I decided to follow my passion for beauty and started a Level One course in hair and beauty at college. I loved every minute of it!

In 2016, semi-permanent makeup started to become really popular with men and women from all around the world. As a result, I decided to offer SPMU procedures to my clients so that they could achieve long-lasting and low-maintenance results.

I have absolutely no regrets about following the SPMU route. I have learnt a lot over the years, but learning is the key to success. I just cannot wait to learn more! In this world, I believe there is always room for progress.

⚡️Do you offer training?

I do not currently offer any training or masterclasses. Because I work alone, this is something I just do not have time for. My schedule is already jam packed!

I also really love focusing entirely on my clients. I really believe in creating long-lasting relationships with my clients and I love making them feel more confident and better about themselves after a treatment.

That said, training is something I would definitely consider in the future. I already get a lot of messages from people asking whether I offer teaching!

⚡️ What’s your signature technique called?

My signature technique is called “The Everlasting BBE” (Ombré Brows). It is one of my favourite procedures to perform and it suits all skin types. It also looks fantastic when they are fully healed, and I perform brow lamination (SBE – Soft Brow Enhancement) over the top!

⚡️ How do you achieve a healthy work life/balance?

Over the years, I have learnt to say no. This is not an easy thing to do and it has taken me a long time to gather up the strength to do so!

I have cut my hours down slightly as, working alone, I realised I needed to give myself more time to get things done both inside and outside of work.

I have a lovely family who I spend time with whenever I can! I also have clients who are now lifelong friends. Often, after a brow treatment, we head out for tea afterwards!

I absolutely love being at work. I spend most of my time there, but I would not have it any other way! I feel incredibly lucky to be one of those people who genuinely love their job.
